AI use within the platform (statement)

You can find further information here but in summary the UCL position is as follows:

  • AI can perhaps be helpful as an initial stage in generating ideas to include in an assessment response, but it requires skill in the use of AI if the material created is to be relevant to the specific case study. The ideas created then need to be developed using the information in the case study, relevant learning from the programme and a participant’s leadership experience and understanding. All of this can take considerably more time and is no more likely to produce a good submission than a participant following the assessment guidance to apply their programme learning and leadership knowledge effectively.
  • Using AI without skill and adaptation to the specific case study produces responses that are, at best, low scoring and which most often fail. At worst, the unacknowledged use of AI can result in a participant being disqualified for plagiarism.
  • UCL has in place processes to identify the possible use of unacknowledged AI in the generation of case study responses and participants will be contacted when such concerns are identified. We believe that this is necessary if we are to ensure the integrity of the assessment process and a level playing field for all participants.
