What is the NCLE?
The National Consortium for Languages Education (NCLE)
The Institute of Education, together with the Goethe-Institut and the British Council is leading the nationwide hubs programme funded by the DfE up to £14.9 million over the next three years to re-energise language learning in state-maintained primary and secondary schools in England.
How many courses do I need to complete?
You can complete as many courses as you like to further develop your professional learning. You can also re-take any courses that you have previously completed.
If you are working towards the Chartered College Teaching Practice Award, please check the information provided by clicking on the "Home" button to find out about the specific requirements.
How long will each course take me?
This is an asynchronous learning platform which allows you to work at your own pace, at a time that suits you best. You will see an approximate indicator of the time needed to complete each activity but you might like to take less or more time to complete each of these.
How do I access a course?
Go to Dashboard at the top left of the page, next to the NCLE logo. There you can see all courses that are available at this moment in time to you. Click on the icon that says "explore course" of the relevant course to access it.
Can I begin a course and come back to it at a later stage?
This is a self-paced asynchronous learning environment. You can begin a course at any time and then come back to it at a later stage. Ensure that you save any activities as soon as completed before you log out to ensure that you do not lose any work that you have already completed.
How do I track my progress within the platform?
At the top of the page, you will see a section called "My progress". There you can see the progress you have made in the different areas. You can also see the badges that you have collected and the skills points that you have earned. The site updates automatically to reflect any new progress you have made.
Can I access the platform from home?
You can access the platform from anywhere where you have an internet connection. For the best experience, we recommend you access the platform via a computer or laptop. But the site has been designed to be accessible via a tablet or phone as well.
AI use within the platform (statement)
- AI can perhaps be helpful as an initial stage in generating ideas to include in an assessment response, but it requires skill in the use of AI if the material created is to be relevant to the specific case study. The ideas created then need to be developed using the information in the case study, relevant learning from the programme and a participant’s leadership experience and understanding.
